M for Moon Dot Marker Pages
This printable set includes a do-a-dot marker page, centered around the moon and the letter M. Dot marker pages are great for:
- Building hand-eye coordination
- Improving fine motor skills
- Inspiring creativity
And they can also be used to help little ones get a general idea of how letters are formed. This particular dot marker printable even includes a bit of handwriting practice through tracing the word “Moon.”
All you need for this activity is a printer (and something to print from), some paper, dot markers, and your choice of writing utensil.
As your student(s) fill in the letter M, encourage left to right progression and allow them to experiment with color choice.
It’s fun to see so many different variations at the end!
M for Moon Block Letter Printables
The other part of this downloadable pack includes two block letter printables:
uppercase M for Moon and lowercase m for moon.
For this activity, I gave each of my kids a bowl of rocks or glass gems, and I had them build their M’s with what we called “moon rocks.”
The kids got a big kick out of that.
This is an excellent pre-writing activity for preschoolers. It’s also a good option for reluctant writers, as it helps children understand how the letter m is formed.
Here are a few other ways you use your block letter printables:
- Fill with moon or space-themed stickers: If you use puffy stickers, you can turn this into a tactile experience, as children can then trace along the puffy stickers with their fingers to remember how the letter m is formed.
- Color in with crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc.
- Watercolor: Print your pages off on watercolor paper, so your students can then use watercolor paints to express their creativity.
- Draw other items that start with the letter m inside of the block letters
- Laminate and use as a play dough mat: Children can roll out play dough and create the letter m, using the block letter printable as a guide.
